JJBA PRIDE ZINE
A digital-only LGBTQIA+ themed JJBA charity zine featuring writers, artists, and cosplayers.
FAQs
What is this zine about?
Pride is a digital-only zine celebrating LGBTQIA+ experiences through the vehicle of characters from Jojo's Bizarre Adventures. While this zine will likely include some depictions of the very serious struggles that come with being a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, the overall takeaway of each piece will be a positive one and will rejoice in the beauty and pride of being LGBTQIA+.
What is the proposed timeline?
In the proposed timeline, applications will open in March and zine work will begin by April with the creation period finishing and sales opening around mid-June (during Pride Month)!
How old do I need to be to contribute to this zine?
Contributors will need to be 18+ to participate in the creation of this zine.
Will there be any NSFW content in this zine?
This zine will be SFW but pieces may include adult themes or slightly suggestive material.
What parts and characters will this zine include?
This zine is open to all 8 parts and all characters, and pieces can either be general or ship.
What rules are there regarding ships?
In terms of ships, we will not be allowing any minor x adult ships or incest ships. Pieces featuring romantic relationships that are set in the canonical future are permissible; for example, if someone were to write a piece about Giorno Giovanna and Guido Mista having a romantic relationship in their twenties, that is allowable if the future setting is made extremely clear. Ships between canonical minors (ex. Josuke x Okuyasu) are fine.
Are minor x minor ships allowed?
Yes! We will be allowing minor x minor ships.
Define SFW. What can my characters be doing romantically in a SFW piece?
Kissing, hugging, hand-holding, and spooning or cuddling while clothed are all acceptable. Shirtless cuddling is acceptable for male-presenting characters. For adult characters, all the same applies. With adult characters, though, it is permissible to imply that they have a sex life with one another, but there should be no explicit mentions or descriptions of this.
Where will the proceeds for the zine go?
The zine will be priced as a pay-what-you can, and all proceeds for this zine will go to nonprofit LGBTQIA+ charities. The first charity will be The Trevor Project and one or two other charities will be selected by the contributors to receive donations as well.
Will this zine ever be physically printed?
There are no plans at this time to make this a physical zine or to create merch for this zine.
Do I have to be a member of the LGBTQIA+ community to be a creator?
No, you do not have to be LGBTQIA+ to be a creator for this zine. We do require, however, that all ally contributors be respectful and well-informed of their depictions of LGBTQIA+ individuals, as well as behave respectfully towards their fellow creators who are LGBTQIA+. We will have a zero tolerance policy on homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, etc.
Do I have to create a piece based on my own LGBTQIA+ identity?
You can if you choose to, but you may choose to create a piece about a character or characters with a different sexuality or gender identity than yourself.
What about OCs and AUs?
AUs are perfectly fine! We ask that in the case of OCs that they appear only as minor characters in any given piece.
I'm a cosplayer, and I'm wondering if I have to wear my chosen character's canon outfit?
Only if you want! Cosplayers are free to create new outfits for their select character. We also have the option of having a cosplay piece that serves as an 'interlude' which is basically a cosplay look that isn't of a specific JJBA character, but which has makeup/outfit/etc that reflects pride in general or a specific LGBTQIA+ flag.
What is the prompt list?
We are creating a list of prompts which are intended to inspire creators as well as to help the Mods identify which ideas are more popular so as to ensure that there is variety in the various creators' depictions. These prompts are divided into two categories: LGBTQIA+ sexual/gender identities (ex. gay, lesbian, trans, bisexual, ace, pan, nonbinary, genderfluid , etc.) as well as more plot-oriented prompts (ex. coming out, transitioning, self-expression, gender euphoria, AU, nightlife, domestic, etc.) which lend themselves to either gen pieces, ship pieces, or both depending on the individual's interpretation.
